Trip Rules

Everyone treats each other with respect and dignity

Once you leave Salisbury, You give up the right to do your own thing until you return.

If you don't know what to do in a certain situation, stop and ask one of the adults.

During the trip you will be the guests of others - the church in Newbern, the ASP center, and at the homes of the families you will be working for. Respect the property and possessions of others. It may not look like much to you, but it may be all they have.

While at the ASP center, the ASP staff makes the rules that govern our stay. We will follow their rules to the letter.

Demonstrate respect for your adult leaders, other adults and the ASP staff at all times. If you have a problem with another adult, talk to us about the situation.

Don't wait to be asked to help. There is always plenty of work to do on the trip. Pitch in.

The adults are old and need their sleep, especially Mr. Taylor. The driving to ASP and the trips to the work sites need our full attention. Anyone who deprives others of sleep will be deprived of it themselves.

If you do not comply with these rules, you may or may not be warned the first time, depending upon the problem. Center rules are listed under Expectations. As you can see some of the violations will get you sent home on the first offense at your expense. For those who fail to comply with the rules, you could lose your free time, be given special work assignments, or that most dreaded of all punishments, coffee with Mr. Taylor at 5:30 am.

No personal cell phones or other electronic communication devices will be allowed on the trip except those used by drivers. Driver phones will be turned off in Appalachia.

The most important rule is: LET'S ALL WORK HARD, AND GIVE BACK SOME OF WHAT WE HAVE BLESSED WITH AND HAVE FUN DOING IT.
